Monderosa Bar in Nenana

Delicious and affordable food, burgers are insanely good. And the staff are super friendly and quick. Best burgers in the state!

This great restaurant earns its reputation for excellent burgers. The service is great and the environment — reminding me of a truck stop diner from in times past — is a nice spot to pause for a break with beer and a meal.

Visited back in October on a trip to visit my friend in Fairbanks from Colorado. Enjoyed my burger, and the conversation with our waitress.

Great highway side bar and small restaurant, only give it 4 stars because the nachos were very disappointing... monstrosity mondo burger was amazing though!

Great burger and fries. No cards taken so bring cash or pay a service charge at the ATM located within the restaurant.Only one girl working the day I went; covering the tables, bar, and even the grill but she still managed to please, great job holding down the fort!

Super Good Food

Good food, friendly staff.

There are a group of us that make appoint to stop in the Monderosa going to our camp and stop for lunch on our way back. Always Real Good Food. Yes their hamburgers are the best" And the Courteous, kind people that work there are a special treat. Very comfortable place ~ 5 STARS!!

I had a hamburger and it was good! However, I was very disappointed with the process cheese on the hamburger. It would be nice to see an upgrade to real cheese. I have given you three stars primarily because my waitress sat directly across from my wife and I and smoked a cigarette. She even left the cigarette burning in the ashtray as she made her rounds. There were three employees working at the restaurant! I don’t understand why she couldn’t step outside and smoke. It was a very nice sunny day. I hate cigarette smoke! Needless to say! My displeasure was reflected in my tip.

Great food! WAITRESS ran lots of business off (more than 5 families didn't eat there while we were there). Telling them it was an hour wait (when it wasn't). Table left dirty the whole time we were there.

If you advertise "best hamburger in Alaska", you'd better deliver! This place does!Friendly, and good. A real treat.

Greatest burger on the way to nenana

Had the Mondo Burger, stated it was the best in Alaska. That is untrue. Don't get me wrong, it's a 4 out of 5 and I will definitely ha e one again. But I have had better in interior Alaska. This is a historic place to eat and was once on the main drag between Fairbanks and Nenana. When they changed the Parks HWY Monderosa was left to the west of the HWY by about a quarter mile. No worries though, well advertised with signs. This is a cash only restaurant and bar. They do have an ATM on site incase you need USD.

Great service! Woman was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area and its history. The burger was absolutely Alaska's best.

Great burgers, love the fries. All the food is good. Great atmosphere, cash only fyi but they do have an atm. Wanda is the best! Locally owned They're known for their burgers, by the way, they are the best! Is even said locally to be the best burgers in the whole area including Fairbanks & North Pole.They also have a couple pool tables and a pretty good bar if you're into that.

Quite the delightful (delicious) surprise. A most experience for lunch (maybe breakfast and dinner, didn’t have that opportunity). Don’t let the outside fool you, I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Great Alaskan log cabin with awesome food! Smells great as soon as you walk in. Beautiful drive from Fairbanks. Definitely would recommend. Be prepared to be full!

The fries are amazing, and battered shrimp: equally as great.

CASH ONLY! NO CREDIT CARDS! This is a typical Alaskan lodge setting. Comfort food in a log cabin. Clean tables, and probably the best you can do in a rural setting. Prices are not bad. But bring real money.

Great place off the road between Fairbanks and Nenana. Be careful vegetarians: I hear they fry their french fries in lard. There are other options however.

This was our first time eating here although we hear a lot about it. The mondo burger was very tasty and the prices reasonable. I do still feel that it is not quite the best burger I've had in Alaska. The waitress was nice but could have tended to us better. It is cash only which i don't care for but they do have an atm. The ceiling fans were so dusty so thankfully they were not on. The flooring didn't look like it had been mopped in months. We were able to see our waitress out back making out with someone and didn't wash her hands when she came back to we work. Overall I am satisfied but have experienced better.

Good food, I've been going here since I was a child

Tasty food with large quantities of meat. May not be ideal if you are a vegetarian. The place is at a good location along the highway, making it a good place to eat. They unfortunately don't accept credit cards and their atm doesn't always work.

We were just passing through to go to Fairbanks. The staff was amazing and we even got to meet Jesse Holms!!! Food was also great.

Great food. Nice screened in porch in the summer. They are famous for their huge hamburgers, but I like their steak sandwiches. A wonderful place for locals and for people driving the Parks Highway.

We couldn’t get the waitress to come to our table to take our order so we had to leave. She took everyone else’s orders in the building. When we left she turned her back to us. Not sure what we did wrong, but our large party will never be going back. It’s a bummer because we’ve been there many times and always liked to take friends and family who visit.
